This is a one year specialist course training students to work as Special Needs Assistants (SNAs) in Primary and Secondary School Classrooms. Liberties College has offered courses in the training of SNAs since 1991. |

Twoday placement each week in classrooms in Mainstream Education or Special Schools
Students complete one block placement in Special Schools
Lectures/Classes three days per week in Liberties College
Training in typical SNA duties:
Assisting children with everyday practical tasks - e.g. clothing, feeding, toileting and hygiene
Educational assistance e.g. helping the child with writing or typing
Preparing and tidying the classroom environment
Assisting during school tours and outings

Hide-There are no tuition fees for students who are citizens of Ireland or another European Union State. For all students there is a moderate course charge to cover expenses such as examination fees and specialist materials supplied directly to students.
From 2011, as required by government legislation, a Registration Charge of 200 (in addition to the course charge) will be payable by all Post Leaving Cert (PLC) students. There will be some exemptions and reliefs.
Contact the Admissions Office for an up-to-date listing of course charges. Candidates who are non-EU citizens should contact the College for details of entry conditions.

| Financial Support |
Students may be eligible for a means tested maintenance grant under the Maintenance Grants Scheme for students attending Post Leaving Certificate Courses. General information and application details may be obtained on www.susi.ie. You can submit your application for a Maintenance Grant once you have secured a college place.
Candidates are advised to apply for a grant as soon as they have secured a college place in order to have time to submit all documents required. |

Leaving Certificate standard is required; or Pass Level (120 credits) in the Leaving Certificate Applied. Individual courses may have specific additional requirements. These will be outlined in the course descriptions for each course

Courses at Pearse College are at Levels 5 & 6. Courses in Universities and IoTs are at Levels 7 & 8. All Universities and IoTs accept growing numbers of applications on the basis of performance in QQI Level 5 assessments. In many cases holders of the QQI Advanced Certificate (Level 6) may apply for advanced entry.
UK institutions are open to applications and offer advanced entry to holders of Edexcel HND qualifications. Progression opportunities for QQI graduates are growing each year. There are now real and substantial opportunities for PLC students to progress to third level.
