The aim of this programme is to prepare safe and effective practitioners, who are competent to prescribe within a legal and ethical context. This programme provides students with high-quality teaching that is informed by current research and scholarship.
Students are mentored by a designated medical practitioner for the duration of the programme.

The Undergraduate Certificate and the Postgraduate Certificate in Non Medical Prescribing programme can both be completed in one year as a part-time course of study. This is a Nursing and Midwifery Council validated programme and recordable qualification.

The Postgraduate Certificate comprises three compulsory modules.
All students must undertake two modules:
1. Pharmacotherapeutics for Prescribing
2. Prescribing in Practice
• Students who have not completed a Health Assessment module previously must also take Health Assessment (NMP7002).
• Students may claim an exemption from the Health Assessment module, in which case they will be awarded a professional qualification only and not an academic award.
• Students are also required to complete a clinical competency workbook.
