This 1 year, full time programme give learners the opportunity to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge of horticultural and plant care techniques. Demonstrate understanding of the needs of a range of plant types and horticulture contexts and provision for them in accordance with recommended best practice. Utilise personal skills and suitable equipment safely and effectively work with and care for a range of plant species and environments. Demonstrate judgement in establishing and maintaining a range of plant types. Demonstrate application of skills and knowledge in a range of horticultural contexts and settings. Contribute effectively and responsibly as a member of a team, complying with guidelines and legislation in carrying out horticultural tasks and duties. There are no tuition fees payable to the College by EU nationals. However, learners are liable for registration fees, examination fees, and for some courses, materials fees. Registration fees vary depending on programme choice. Applicants will be informed of individual programme fees and possible exemptions at interview. |
| Financial Support |
Means-tested Maintenance Grants are available to qualifying learners. These grants are administered by Learner Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) through www.Learnerfinance.ie. All applications must be made on-line. The College has a Grants Officer, who will advise applicants, as necessary. |
| Interview |
Interviews will be held in May and places will be offered at that stage. Interviews will also be held in late August to fill anyremaining places. Therefore, early application is advisable. |

• Applicants must have Leaving Certificate, LCA or equivalent.
• Holders of a QQI Level 4 Award are also eligible to apply.
• Mature learners (over 23) may be exempt from the above academic requirements.
• In addition applicants will have to undertake an interview. |

Employment / Progression Opportunities
• People who will complete the course may go on to set up their own farmer’s market stalls, run an organic gardening centre. You may also develop projects introducing organic gardening to school children. Many people simply develop their own garden and grow more of their own food thus saving money and enjoying the delights of fresh, nutritious and local food. |
