PAC Application Information Applications for all Maynooth University postgraduate programmes must be made online through the Postgraduate Applications Centre (PAC) at www.pac.ie/maynoothuniversity This is an online application system that allows applicants, for a fee of €50, to apply for up to three courses at Maynooth University. Course selection can be from any of our PhD, Research and Taught Masters, Diplomas or Certificate courses. The fee is paid directly to PAC.

Course Fee In general, there are two levels of fees payable. EU students from EU countries including Ireland pay a subsidised level of fees for both taught courses and research programmes. Tuition fees for students from outside the EU are not subsidised and are thus somewhat higher than for EU students.

Entry Requirements A second class honours degree grade II (2.2) in Anthropology or related discipline is required. For international students whose first language is not English, an English language exam certificate showing IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent) is required.
Comment Maynooth University is home to the only department of anthropology in the Republic of Ireland. Our department was established in 1983 and since then has gained an international reputation for the quality of its research and the teaching and learning experience it provides.
Course Content The Postgraduate Certificate in Anthropology is a one-year part-time course designed for students who would like to make a transition to studying anthropology but have no previous background in the subject or for students who for various reasons are not able to enroll in the full MA programme. This Certificate can be applied to the MA in Anthropology, upon acceptance to that programme.
Subjects Taught Course Structure
Students are introduced to the history of anthropology and the theory and ethnographic practices – in anthropology.

Anthropology has become increasingly important as a job skill in an information-based global economy, where an understanding of cultural difference is increasingly crucial – from local to international contexts.
