Hide-Students should already have a basic understanding of chords, chord changes and fingerpicking. They should have basic music theory and possess a simple understanding of guitar tablature.
This class will teach blues, rock and pop chord progressions. We will learn more advanced variations of basic chords, learning how to play diminished, 7ths, 9's, 11ths and augmented chords in the style they are most played. They will also learn handy tricks and techniques to create a more stylistic way of playing.
◦ Basic Rock progression and power chords and bar chords.
◦ 12 bar blues and blues variations.
◦ Re-iteration of basic scales to continue to more complicated scale variations and modes such as relative minor, pentatonic and Dorian to allow for improvisation and solos. This usually is the most difficult element of the course for students and takes the most time. But it is vital and incredibly important if you want to take that next step in your guitar playing.
◦ Techniques such as bends, slides, vibrato etc to improve guitar playing and create a personal playing style.
◦ Muting strings at the bridge and learning more advanced strumming techniques.
◦ Tuning the guitar to various ‘open’ keys in styles used by the likes of Ben Howard and Ed Sheeran.
