PAYMENT METHODS
Fees for programmes offered through Flexible Learning differ from programme to programme. Check the details in the handbook. In some cases particular criteria apply in terms of fee payments.
If you wish to pay by cheque, bank draft or postal order, please make payable to Limerick Institute of Technology and submit with your completed registration form to the Department of Flexible Learning.
Payment by credit or debit card is possible either in person during the Information and Registration sessions and at any time during office opening hours either in person or by telephone. If you are registering by post and wish to pay by credit or debit card, simply complete the relevant section of the Registration Form.
Where fees are being paid by an employer or other third party, a letter or email of undertaking from the employer/ third party must be submitted with your registration. Invoices will only be issued to employers/third parties when this letter of undertaking is provided.
Payment of programme fees must be received from the employer prior to commencement of the programme. In the event that invoices have not been paid prior to the commencement of a programme, the student will be required to pay the fee and subsequently claim it back from his/her employer.
Please note that for security reasons, we are unable to accept cash payments.
All programme fees must be paid in full before the commencement of a programme. Receipts will be issued to students or employer/third party upon payment of fees. Students should retain receipts as charges may apply for issuing copies, and in some cases reissuing will not be possible.
WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY
Students who wish to withdraw from a Flexible Learning Programme must do so officially, by completing a withdrawal form, available from the Department of Flexible Learning in Limerick or Thurles upon request.
LIT has a strict policy in relation to the refunding of programme fees as follows:
1. In the event that a programme is cancelled by LIT, for any reason, a refund of 100% of the programme fee will be issued.
2. In the event that a student withdraws from a programme before the commencement date, a refund of 100% of the programme fee will be issued. This is subject to the student informing the Department of Flexible Learning of their intention to withdraw before the commencement date of the programme.
3. In the event that a learner withdraws from a programme after the commencement date the following rules apply:
For programmes of up to and including 12 weeks duration, the student must complete and submit a withdrawal form to the Department of Flexible Learning within two weeks of the commencement date of the programme. Subject to all requirements being met, 70% of the programme fee will be issued. Thereafter, no refunds will be processed.
