The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Description
The Early Childcare Care and Education course equips learners with the skills and knowledge necessary for employment as part of a team in the childcare services sector. Learners study core modules such as Child Development, Child Health and Well Being and Early Care and Education Practice. Students wishing to specialise in Special Needs and working with School Age Children are enable to do this by taking specific modules as part of the programme.

Minimum Entry Requirements
Candidates need to have completed a QQI Level 5 in Early Childhood Care and Education or equivalent. Students who have completed Level 5 in other Colleges are very welcome to apply.
Progression
On completion of Early Childhood Care and Education Level 5, many students move directly to employment in crèches, preschools and other childcare settings. Some students choose to progress within the college to Early Childhood Care and Education, Level 6 QQI 6M2007 Graduates of the programme may also progress to Universities and Institutes of Technology.
