Simulation is providing a radically new approach to Science addressing problems beyond the scope of traditional Experimental or Theoretical Science. Thus Simulation Science is central in enabling everything from developing new materials and new technologies for energy, information processing, and communication, to designing new medicines and treatments, and predicting how biological and social networks respond to different stimuli, from infections to financial crashes. The use and application of Simulation Science is critical to drive forward future innovations in the competitive environment of industry and scientific research; educating tomorrow’s scientists requires that students acquire substantial depth in these techniques.
