This specialist course is for qualified fitness instructors who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills and work as a personal trainer with clients on a one to one basis and also learn the necessary skills for Leisure Facility Supervisory Management. Personal Trainers can establish their own business or work in a commercial fitness facility providing personal training.

The course content is aimed at supervisory /duty management level and provides students with teaching and instruction qualifications as Personal Trainers and Swim Teachers. Students must hold the Exercise and Health Fitness (CEHF) or an approved equivalent fitness instructor qualification at QQI Level 5 to complete this course.

Graduates receive the QQI Level 6 Award in Leisure Facility Supervisory Management and Personal Training Specialist Module accredited by the University of Limerick.

•Certificate in Exercise and Health Fitness (CEHF) accredited by the University of Limerick

Conversion Course is expected to be offered to students who meet specific criteria. The CEHF graduate predominantly gains employment as a group fitness instructor and /or as a gym instructor in gyms and fitness clubs, some of which are hotel based or in community settings.

Grants are means tested and if eligible the amount of the grant is dependent on the distance students travel from their place of residence to the college.

It is advisable for students to apply as early as possible for maintenance grants.

All applicants' suitability is assessed on the merit of their application forms and by the means of a ten to fifteen minute interview. Interviews will take place in May and September depending on when you apply. All late applicants should check with the College Main Office as quite frequently, we have places still available on some courses in September. The purpose of this subject is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to design safety and risk management strategies, supervise their implementation and to evaluate workplace safety policies.

•Leisure Facility Operations 6N4649
This area of study equips the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to safely and effectively manage the day to day operations of a leisure facility.

This subject will equip the learner with the relevant knowledge, skill and competence to direct quality customer service within a work, social or voluntary environment, independently and/or in a supervisory capacity.
