Hide-The MSc in Energy & Environmental Finance aims to advance your understanding of finance theory, with specific focus on the practical aspects of energy-environmental financial markets. It encourages you to develop creative and analytical approaches to problem-solving in the energy-environment sphere and to enhance your interpersonal and leadership skills.
This course is aimed at graduates with a background in a number of different fields (including Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Environmental Science and Physics) who are keen to pursue a career in the energy and environmental markets sector. The part-time format option enables people currently in employment to combine weekly class attendance with working life. If you are in full-time employment, employer support is essential to undertake the part-time option as it requires class attendance during the working day.
What will I learn?
You will acquire a detailed understanding of the economic and financial processes and procedures associated with the energy and environmental markets sector. You will also develop the knowledge and skills (both professional and personal) necessary for a career in the area of energy and environmental markets.
After completing the MSc Energy & Environmental Finance you will have:
• A comprehensive understanding of firms' financial management decisions in the context of how they contribute to maximising shareholder value along with the scarcity of energy resources and liberalisations in various energy markets.
• A critical awareness of the operation and functions of energy commodity markets and the pricing implications.
• An enhanced knowledge of the principles and the developments in the area of environmental finance.
How will I benefit
As the only Masters in the world covering both energy finance and environmental finance, this course offers an unrivalled level of specialisation in global energy and environmental markets and significant career opportunities.
A strong emphasis on the development of interpersonal skills, leadership and problem-solving, as well as tracking recent developments, ensuring that graduates are well-informed on the industry and well-equipped to enter it.
In the summer term, students can choose from some summer term modules, or a research project, or in a small number of cases, from a limited number of possible internships. With any possible internship opportunity, students may have to go through a competitive process for these, including potential interviews.
A springboard for a career in a wide range of public and private sector organisations, from commercial and investment banks, and energy and environmental exchanges through to national governments and multilateral banks.
