English Language Requirements

This course is aimed at graduates with a background in a number of different fields (including Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Environmental Science and Physics) who are keen to pursue a career in the energy and environmental markets sector. The part-time format option enables people currently in employment to combine weekly class attendance with working life. If you are in full-time employment, employer support is essential to undertake the part-time option as it requires class attendance during the working day.

What will I learn?
You will acquire a detailed understanding of the economic and financial processes and procedures associated with the energy and environmental markets sector. You will also develop the knowledge and skills (both professional and personal) necessary for a career in the area of energy and environmental markets.

After completing the MSc Energy & Environmental Finance you will have:

• A comprehensive understanding of firms' financial management decisions in the context of how they contribute to maximising shareholder value along with the scarcity of energy resources and liberalisations in various energy markets.

• A critical awareness of the operation and functions of energy commodity markets and the pricing implications.

• An enhanced knowledge of the principles and the developments in the area of environmental finance.

To complete the course you have the option of pursuing either a taught stream which involves a total of twelve modules (ten core modules plus two option modules in the summer semester), a research stream which involves ten core modules plus a research project (in the summer semester), or an internship stream which involves ten core modules plus an internship in the summer semester.
