Fees for programmes offered through Flexible Learning differ from programme to programme. Check the details in the handbook. In some cases particular criteria apply in terms of fee payments.
If you wish to pay by cheque, bank draft or postal order, please make payable to Limerick Institute of Technology and submit with your completed registration form to the Flexible Learning Office.
Payment by credit or laser card is possible either in person during the Information and Registration sessions or when registering online. If you are registering by post and wish to pay by credit or laser card, simply complete the relevant section of the Registration Form.
Where fees are being paid by an employer or other third party, a letter or email of undertaking from the employer/third party must be submitted with your registration form. Invoices will only be issued to employers/third parties when this letter of undertaking is provided.
Payment of programme fees must be received from the employer prior to commencement of the programme. In the event that invoices have not been paid prior to the commencement of a programme, the student will be required to pay the fee and subsequently claim it back from his/her employer.
Please note that for security reasons, we are unable to accept cash payments.

Hide-LIT Student Concession Fees
Students registered on full time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at LIT at the time of registration may be eligible for a 25% reduction on Flexible Learning programme fees and are also eligible for substantial reductions on the NISO Health & Safety programmes. Students should call to the Flexible Learning Office for further details.
Staff Concession Payments
Under a joint arrangement between the Limerick Institute of Technology and the City of Limerick Vocational Education Committee, a minimum number of places are reserved on some programmes for permanent whole-time staff members free of charge except where there is an external validating body. This is taken into account by each Head of School/Department when deciding whether a programme is viable. However, these places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, up to the allocated numbers.
Tax Relief on Tuition Fees
Tax relief is available at the standard rate of income tax for tuition fees paid by or on behalf of students who attend an approved programme of study which must be at least two years in duration. Further information and an application form for tax relief on tuition fees is available from the Revenue Commissioners’ website, www.revenue.ie. A receipt for fees paid must accompany the completed application form.

Hide-What is the programme about?
The traineeship is designed to enable chefs to learn on the job while formalising their training on a day release basis in college. It is the first programme of its kind to offer the potential of a qualification in Professional Cookery from a work based learning programme, with minimum time required away from the workplace. This programme is based on a solid foundation of practical culinary skills and techniques reinforced by a formal academic qualification.
Trainees work full-time as chefs and attend college one fixed day a week, with a one week period of college in September and June in stage one. Employers support the trainees in paid employment for the duration of the programme and nominate a dedicated mentor to support the trainee. All work based learning is supported by the academic programme.
Fáilte Ireland will contribute to the tuition and registration fees for this programme, however, colleges may require additional payment towards the cost of student services, uniforms, books and certain training modules.
Who is the programme suited to?
This two year National Chef Traineeship is designed for aspiring chefs with a creative passion and flair for working with food in the tourism industry.
