Qualified accounting technicians are highly employable and will work alongside qualified accountants in business, industry, private practice and the public sector. The comprehensive training you receive means that you can play a wide range of roles in any organisation, such as assistant accountant, credit controller, payroll administrator and so on.
Qualified accounting technicians may continue their studies and are eligible for exemptions from professional exams.

1 year.
This is a one-year course which may be pursued on successful completion of year 1. Classes are timetabled between 9:00 am and 1:15 pm, Monday to Friday. |

Certification:
The Accounting Technicians Ireland qualification is divided into two parts, each of which is a qualification in its own right. Successful completion of Year 2 leads to an Accounting Technician Diploma. |
| Course Fee |
In line with the Department of Education and Skills guidelines, there are no tuition fees.
However, the following are payable:
20 non-refundable administration fee with your application form.
100 registration fee on commencement of a course.
200 contribution to the Department of Education and Skills - see exemptions under Finance.
50 QQI exam fees payable in January - Medical Card Exemption.
Some modules will require the purchase of a text book or material. |

Students on the Back to Education scheme, medical card holders or dependents of medical card holders will be exempt from paying the mandatory Department of Education and Skills contribution of 200. Medical card holders will also be exempt from examination fees.
Recipients of Social Welfare payments contact the offices of the Department of Social Protection before commencing the course. The college will require a copy of your letter from Social Welfare stating that you are in receipt of BTEA.

Interviews will be held in May 2017 and places will be offered at that stage. Interviews will also be held in late August to fill any remaining places. Therefore early application is advisable. |

| Entry Requirements |
Applicants must have successfully completed Year I or an accredited equivalent. Exemptions must be agreed by students with Accounting Technicians Ireland. Students who have completed Year I in another college may join Year II. The learner must be Garda vetted to avail of college facilities. |

Assessment
Continuous assessment takes place on all PLC courses. Work produced throughout the year such as projects and assignments will be graded and will contribute towards final assessment. |

Many study with organisations such as Chartered Accountants Ireland, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA), or the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). All these bodies offer Accounting Technicians Ireland graduates significant exemptions for taking their exams. Alternative, graduates of year 2 take up employment in a broad range of finance roles in many types of organisations across different sectors from private industry to local and central government.
