Part-time evening courses commences on Monday 2nd October 2017 for the Autumn term. Courses will run on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday evenings. Learners will have opportunities to upskill by partaking in courses with QQI certification or take courses which have a social or personal interest. |

• As part of the assessment criteria for this course students’ will need to carry out practical demonstrations, all candidates who enrol for this programme must have the agreement from their supervisor/manager in the work place to oversee their practical work.
Verify Identity
The following are the lists of documents deemed acceptable by the National Vetting Bureau, that must be used for verifying Identity AND Current Address. A photocopy of one document from each list (Identity and Current Address) must be submitted with each completed National Vetting Bureau Application Form (NVB2).
IDENTITY
- Irish driving licence or learner permit (new credit card format)
- Irish Public Services Card
- Passport (from country of citizenship)
- Irish certificate of naturalisation
- Birth certificate
- Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) card
- National Identity Card for EU/EEA/Swiss citizens.
- Irish driving licence or learner permit (old paper format)
- Employment I.D. (ID card issued by employer (with name and address),
- ID card issued by employer (name only).
- Letter from employer (within last two years) confirming name and address.
CURRENT ADDRESS
- P60, P45 or Payslip (with home address)
- Utility bill e.g. gas, electricity, television, broadband (must not be less than 6 months old). Printed online bills are acceptable. Mobile phone bills are not acceptable).
- Public services card/social services card/medical card (with photograph)
- Bank/Building Society/Credit Union Statement
- Credit/debit cards/passbooks (only one per institution)
- National age card (issued by An Garda Siochana)
- Membership card (Club, union, trade, professional bodies, Educational Institute).
- Correspondence (from an educational institution/SUSI/CAO, from an insurance company regarding an active policy, from a bank/credit union or government body or state agency.
CHILDREN UNDER 18 YEARS (ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING)
- Birth certificate
- Passport
- Written statement by a Principal confirming attendance at educational institution on a letter head of the institution.
- Recent arrival in Ireland (less than 6 weeks) – Passport

For a course to commence, it is necessary to enrol a minimum number of participants. The disabled, registered unemployed and OAPs, may be entitled to a 25% reduction in tuition fees in certain viable courses if evidence to support that claim is presented at time of enrolment. This documentation must show your current status, home address & PPS number. A social welfare card is not acceptable, as it does not indicate current status. Refunds will not be made on evidence produced post-enrolment. Please note that a maximum of four places will be offered at the reduced rate per viable course. Concessions are not available on all courses.

Viable Course: For a course to commence, it is necessary to enrol a minimum number of participants. If this number is not reached, the course will be cancelled. If you have paid for a course which is subsequently cancelled, you will be notified and a full fee refund will be processed automatically. All other courses must remain viable and be self-financing: therefore NO REFUNDS, under any circumstances, are available once a course has commenced. A participant will not be permitted to commence a course/module unless the course/module has been paid for in full by the learner prior to commencement.
Course Deferral: Once a course commences, participants may not defer their place on that course to another term.
Transfers Policy: If a participant wishes to transfer to a different course within the same term, a request should be sent in writing to Director of Adult Education, GTI, Fr. Griffin Road, Galway.
Assignments/Projects: Dates for submission of coursework will be provided by the tutor at the beginning of the course. Coursework will not be returned to the participant once submitted for assessment. Therefore, it is advised that a hard copy of all coursework submitted should be retained by the student.
Self-directed learning: It is the responsibility of the participants to inform themselves as to course content, duration, etc.
Change of Address: The college needs to be informed of any changes of address so as to ensure the prompt delivery of all correspondence.
Smoking: Smoking is strictly prohibited in any part of the premises.
Student Property: Responsibility cannot be accepted for loss or damage to the property of participants.

General Aims of the Course
- Provide holistic care for persons diagnosed with a life- limiting illness and in the last days of a person’s life and also for their families, carers and significant others
- Communicate effectively with persons with a life-limiting illness and in the last days of a person’s life and also with their families, carers and significant others
- Enhance the quality of life of the person with a life- limiting illness
- Recognise and respect the uniqueness of each person’s approach to death
- Work effectively as part of the healthcare team
