1. Explain the inter-relationship between the theory and practice of photography
2. Outline the role of digital photography as a contemporary medium of communication
3. Explain the functions of the principal components of a digital camera and or digital SLR camera
4. Describe the functions and uses of camera lenses and camera accessories
5. Explain key elements in a computer workstation layout
6. Expose photographs correctly by controlling shutter speed, aperture, ISO and white balance
7. Apply the correct digital editing tools and practices to produce high-quality final images
8. Experiment with various elements of composition
9. Illustrate individual creativity through the practice of photography
10. Save and store images appropriately
11. Construct a portfolio of work suitable for professional presentation
12. Work independently in a disciplined professional manner
13. Practice time management in completing work
14. Make informed critical judgment of completed work.

Digital Photography QQI Level 6
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to research and use a range of advanced digital photography techniques to include capture and post-production imaging.
Learning Outcomes
Learners will be able to:
1. Evaluate the role of digital photography as a contemporary medium of communication
2. Research current photography techniques and styles
3. Select appropriate equipment and software for a range of tasks
4. Interpret clients brief understanding concepts and visual language including researching and managing client
5. requirements.
6. Utilise a range of industry standard digital capture and editing devices
7. Expose photographs correctly by controlling shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and white balance
8. Manage digital editing tools efficiently to produce a final Image
9. Generate a portfolio of photographs of a high professional standard suitable for public display
10. Demonstrate advanced skills in digital photographic production
11. Demonstrate creativity through research and the practice of photography
12. Demonstrate problem solving, observation and evaluation skills through the practice of portraiture
13. Work in a disciplined manner, managing and participating successfully as a member of a professional team
14. Appreciate the need for planning, research, time management and self-evaluation techniques
