Who is the programme for?
This programme is designed for holders of Graduate Diplomas in Clinical Specialisms who wish to deepen and broaden their knowledge and expertise in order to act as clinical leaders in nursing or midwifery. Holders of level 8 Higher Diplomas should contact the School to discuss their options.
What is the programme about?
The MSc Nursing (Clinical Practice) programme helps you to develop valuable knowledge and skills in the areas of clinical leadership and practical research methods that can be applied in the workplace.
Programme aims
We aim to give you a strong theoretical and practical foundation in leadership, health system dynamics and research methods, culminating in a dissertation focused on your practice context.
What will I learn?
You will sharpen your analytical and critical thinking and develop knowledge and skills that will help you assume a leadership role in clinical care.
How will I benefit?
The programme will enhance your career prospects and give you the building blocks for lifelong self-directed learning. It will provide you with the key knowledge and skills to innovate and lead in your area of practice.
Teaching methods / Information technology
A wide a range of diverse and student-cantered teaching methods are used. Blackboard a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) that supports online learning and teaching is used extensively. Students attend multidisciplinary lectures and tutorials. The programme is focused on nursing as professional discipline and research skills to enable students to be even more effective nurses, change agents and leaders in the workplace.
