Entry Requirements To be eligible to enter on a programme of study and research for the degree of PhD you must have reached a high honours standard at the examination for the primary degree or presented such evidence as will satisfy the Head of School and the College of your fitness.
Course Content Course overview
Biostatistics involves the design, analysis and interpretation of clinical trials, observational studies of disease causation, diagnostic test evaluations and medical imaging studies. The research is carried out in collaboration with the HRB Clinical Research Facility NUI Galway. On completion the student will be well-equipped to take on a position as a statistician in government or industry or to continue in a PhD program in Biostatistics.
Research Areas Areas of interest
This involves more applied work in the medical area, typically in collaboration with the Clinical Research Facility at NUI Galway. Topics include clinical trials, survival analysis, and registry-based studies.
