A diploma/degree in any discipline from a third-level institution.

A NCEA National Diploma from a third-level institution
or
Equivalent qualification.
and
A minimum of 3 years working within a service/manufacturing/supply chain environment.
Candidates who do not meet the minimum entry criteria may be interviewed by the Programme Board to ascertain their suitability for the programme.

This one year, part-time course, will develop participants' Supply Chain Management skills. The one year distance education diploma will provide education and practical application of the SCOR Framework concepts, enabling participating companies gain competitive advantage through the application of the principles to drive improvement with measureable results. A company-based project will form a key element of the programme, ensuring the integration of the various concepts in the participants' workplace. It will provide participants with the practical the tools and tecniques needed to understand Supply Chain Management within their own organisation.
The programme comprises 10 modules (9 taught modules and 1 project), delivered through online blended learning; a combination of self-instructional materials and regular webinars and online tutorials). It runs from September onwards for the following year and a quarter (15 months) primarily by on-line learning.
Supply-chain enterprise's operate in a highly dynamic business environment characterised by three Cs - change in globalisation such as outsourcing, change in product possibilities and expectations such as product-service bundling, and change in ways of integrating businesses such as the emergence of enterprise networks.
This programme's content aligns with content within the framework of the Supply-Chain Council's Supply Chain Operations Reference model (SCOR). While in the form of a template, this model places operations planning and control centrally in a way that prior implicit framings did not and so provides a basis for the strongly conceptual navigations that supply-chain managers face in their everyday lives. The programme combines strong human factors, cause-effect modelling, and process improvement orientations to leverage innovative opportunities.
Successful completion of the UL Assessment of Experiential & Professional Skills module may be required by the Course Board upon reviewing a candidate's application. The recognition of prior learning and prior experiential learning as per university policy will be applied to this course.
