Course Content Course Overview:
This course can prepare you for a range of technical and management careers in the Construction & Built Environment Sector. Having met the necessary standards on course, completion you can apply for entry into BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering (Geoinformatics) or BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering.

The course structure is validated by Ulster University and meets QAA Engineering Benchmark statements and the requirement of AHEP3-2014.
Subjects Taught Modules of study will include:
Communication, Civil Engineering & Digital Surveying, Civil Engineering CAD & Emerging Technologies, Mathematics, Geology & Soil Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Civil Engineering Contracts Management, Fluids & Hydraulics, Structural Analysis & Design, Measurement & Costing, Work Based Learning.
Work Placement An essential component of the course is the requirement to undertake a work placement during the final year in order to successfully complete the Foundation Degree. Students undertaking the course develop technical skills which will enable them to work on a wide range of projects, e.g. transportation, highways, water and waste, building structures and environmental schemes.
Careers or Further Progression You can embark on career paths which include: Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Surveying, Estate Management, Structural Engineering, Town and Country Planning. You may also be in a position to continue your career by undertaking professional exams to become TMICE or with further study and experience MICE. You may pursue careers within the Public Sector, e.g. DRD Roads Service or Water NI, or with private consultants or contractors
