It will prepare students to work with people in a hospital, social care or residential setting. It will equip its participants with the social, communication and practical skills to work with individuals and groups. This course is suitable for both school leavers and mature persons seeking to further their education. The course will offer the academic and practical foundation for entry into nurse training as well as the social and human skills necessary for the career.

Work Placement
all courses involve work placement one day per week. Garda vetting is a requirement for Columba College and all work placements. The application form for Garda vetting is available at the school office. |

The following fees apply to all courses:
non refundable deposit €50
Administration fee €50
QQI exam fee €50
In addition, students may have to pay the Government participant contribution of €200 if they are not eligible for an exemption under the criteria outlined below. |

- have a medical card
- are eligible for Back to Education allowance or VTOS allowance
- are eligible for a student grant
Any student not eligible under the above criteria will have to pay the Government contribution of €200. If applicants wish to avail of their entitlements they should go to www.susi.ie or contact their local social welfare office.
