Hide-Applicants should hold the Irish Leaving Certificate with minimum Grade O6 in five Ordinary Level subjects (including Maths, Irish or another language, and English) OR an approved equivalent qualification. Other standards within Leaving Certificate or other levels of education will be considered under the NCEF/UL Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) scheme*
•Applicants must attache a supporting statement with the application form. The supporting statement must be 500-1000 words and typed in Arial Font, Size 11)
•All qualification documentation must be submitted in the English language.
•Non EU Nationals must submit a Study Visa, copies of passport documentation and proof of employment for the last 5 years (Please note originals may be requested)
•Applicants should have a commitment to encouraging others to take part in healthy activity, a desire to become a safe and competent instructor and have a confident, enthusiastic and adaptable personality.
•Experience of participation in a fitness activity or a particular sport is important whilst good rhythm and co-ordination is also desirable.
•Applicants should have good communication skills and enjoy working with people.
•NCEF reserves the right to interview if required.
*Note: All applicants will be required to complete a detailed Portfolio of Learning. Please note an RPL fee applies and on successful acceptance the fee is deducted from the overall programme fee.

The CEHF is a stand alone qualification and is awarded by the University of Limerick.
•60 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits
•The CEHF is placed at Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and Level 5 on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
•ECTS credits can be used towards the NCEF Higher Certificate/ Diploma/B.Sc. in Exercise & Health Fitness through a flexible learning pathway and also towards other University qualifications in Europe who follow ECTS credit value system.
•The CEHF is audited and aligned to the European Industry standard, Exercise for Health Specialist (SQF Level 5).

The CEHF qualification provides you with the skills and competencies to provide motivating, safe and effective group fitness teaching across many class types including:
•Circuit training and HITT type training
•Body Conditioning
•Step Training
•Strength Training
•Exercise to Music
•Group Fitness Assessment
•Supervise and instruct on the gym floor and exercise studio
Graduates will also have the skills and knowledge to deliver one to one training by conducting appropriate fitness assessments and designing safe and effective exercise programmes to the general public (adults 18yrs+) based on their individual needs, whether it be strength training, weight loss, training for an endurance event or general fitness. You can also work as a physical trainer with local groups, club sports teams and corporate fitness and wellness programmes. All graduates are awarded with the QQI Level 5 award in Occupational First Aid (OFA).
Course Tutors
All Tutors hold qualifications in the area of Exercise & Health Fitness or related area. Many of these tutors are teaching and/or conducting research in the areas of Education, Physical Education, Sport & Exercise Science and Recreation Management.

The aim of this interactive website is to support and enhance your learning experience by providing extra tutorials, videos, animations and electronic and printable crosswords and quizzes on all aspects on the CEHF syllabi.
