Hide-The primary objective of this course is to equip the student with a broad base of skills so that upon completion the graduate can identify and solve measurement and contract administration problems in the specialised area of quantity surveying.
As a highly qualified graduate, you will be able to participate in construction design teams and building teams and fulfill the requirements of a qualified quantity surveyor. You will have an understanding of the need for high ethical standards in practice, including the responsibilities of the profession towards people and the environment, and you will be able to work effectively individually and in multidisciplinary teams. As a quantity surveyor, you will have the capacity to communicate effectively with other professionals and society at large.
The course is designed to bring you to a level whereby participation in a professional quantity surveying environment is the next logical step. This is designed to occur in a steady progression over the two semesters. Specialist modules such as Quantitative Studies, Property Development and Economics, Construction and Financial Management, Multi-Disciplinary Project, Capital Works Management Framework, Property and Facilities Management and BIM for Quantity Surveyors are studied, the year culminating in the submission of a dissertation which will have been prepared over the course of the academic year.
