If you want a route into the accountancy profession or need accounting skills at work, this certificate is for you. You’ll learn how financial statements are prepared, develop the skills to prepare them yourself, and explore differences in financial accounting for various businesses – building an understanding of the frameworks underpinning accounting and audit practice. You’ll also gain applied knowledge and understanding of management accounting in different organisations and environments, exploring its purpose, principles and scope.

Although this certificate does not qualify you as an accountant (for which you need to pass the qualifying examinations of a professional accounting body), it does provides you with the underpinning knowledge and skills that you need to progress to professional training. It may also give you exemption from some professional qualifying exams.
