On successful completion, students will be awarded the BTEC Higher National Diploma in Interior Design. This is equivalent to Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications for Ireland.

This course encourages students to explore their creativity, and to combine it with advanced technical skills. Students develop a wide range of skills and knowledge, including concept development, colour theory, design principles, sketching, technical drawing, lighting and electrical specifications, sourcing and presenting materials, building regulations, and professional practice.
The programme provides students with an excellent grounding in interior design theory and practice, and a variety of skills that will allow you to work effectively as a professional, including communication, problem-solving, team-working, and organising your own business.

Year 1 focuses on interior design skills for the residential market; apartments, housing schemes and individual homes. Students learn to develop innovative interior design schemes, and to solve design problems creatively. Students develop a wide set of technical skills and industry knowledge, including concept development, colour theory, design principles, sketching, technical drawing, lighting and electrical specifications, and sourcing and presenting materials.

Year 2
Year 2 focuses on large-scale and commercial interior design work. Throughout the year, students develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver original solutions to a series of challenging, realistic interior design briefs, including office design, retail design, and hotel design. Students explore specific aspects of interior design in each project brief, including technical drawing, building regulations, lighting, electrical layouts, facade design, the external building envelope, and presentation techniques.
