Attendance: This is a full time course where you will normally complete three modules per semester, with class contact time approximately three hours per week per module. You will be expected to undertake independent study to supplement that contact of around 10 hours per week per module. You will have 9-10 class contact hours per week on the Magee campus.

English language requirements for international applicants
The minimum requirement for this course is Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5. Trinity ISE: Pass at level III also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.
Ulster recognises a number of other English language tests and comparable IELTS equivalent scores.

Studying Advertising at the Magee campus provides students with extensive choice. In this case Advertising may be taken as a joint Main subject and Human Resource Management as the other joint Main subject.
The flexible structure of this programme affords students the opportunity of choosing a pathway to suit their own personal interests and career aspirations. Graduates will have generic skills in particular management functions and specific skills in advertising and HRM. The Advertising and HRM combination is particularly suited for graduates wishing to go on to develop a career in business where these named disciplines are equally desirable.

Coursework
Students will have opportunities to complete exciting, interesting and relevant coursework. Typically this will involve working with a client or a real client brief, to solve an advertising, business or marketing related problem. Some examples of coursework include:
◦ Poster Presentation - to investigate an advertising agency to show its people, its work and its specialisms
◦ Pitch - to pitch an advertising campaign in response to a client brief
◦ Brand Development - to work with a client to develop a brand along with its associated emotional and rational components.
◦ Marketing Communications - to develop a range of advertising and marketing copy in response to a client brief.
◦ Understanding Consumers - to write a diary that provides an introspective account of personal buying experiences and habits.
Students take Advertising Major - Optional Work Experience or Study Abroad Year
In year three, Advertising Major students have the option to complete a 48 week work placement which if successfully completed will lead to the award of the Diploma of Professional Practice [DPP] at graduation. Alternatively, students may opt for a student exchange either with other European universities via the ERASMUS scheme, or, with the USA via the Business Education Initiative.

Satisfactory completion of a study abroad year will lead to the award of the Diploma in International Academic Studies.
