Hide-This practically orientated course is designed to provide students with a range of skills which will prepare them for a career in coaching, teaching, fitness and sports related fields. Students gain experience in a broad range of sports and fitness components. Students also have the opportunity to acquire coaching qualifications from the relevant coaching bodies. Graduates from the course have been very successful in recent years in progressing to Higher Education, e.g. B.Ed in Sports Studies & Physical Education in UCC. Students gain excellent work experience in local primary and secondary schools in the area. Garda Vetting is required. Application numbers have been high in recent years so it is advisable to bring a C.V. to the interview along with coaching experience details/references/current completed Garda Vetting proof. All applicants' suitability is assessed on the merit of their application forms and by the means of a ten to fifteen minute interview. Interviews will take place in May and September depending on when you apply. All late applicants should check with the College Main Office as quite frequently, we have places still available on some courses in September. Depending on swimming ability, students may achieve the RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). This is a worldwide-recognised lifesaving award, which is vital for student who see themselves travelling abroad in the future seeking employment during the summer months.

Students will be trained to work as first aiders in the workplace.

This provides students with experience in coaching in local schools.

This subject aims to strengthen the oral and written communication skills needed in the workplace.
