What do I get out of it?
A QQI/FETAC Level 5 award in Cultural and Heritage Studies - 5M2154.
Also, the students will develop competencies in many areas, including research techniques, essay writing and basic computer skills.
Students will make new friends with similar interests and will quickly become 'part of the furniture' in the friendly atmosphere of Pearse College. |

Hide-The Archaeology and Heritage course is particularly suited to adults with an interest in cultural and heritage studies who wish to return to education. Students will be introduced to key areas of Irish Archaeology, Folklore, Local History, Music and Heritage studies, enabling them to pursue employment opportunities in the tourist industry. Others may wish to continue studying course subjects at a higher level.
There will be several field trips to places of archaeological, historical and cultural interest. These will include a visit to a 5000 year old Passage tomb and to the world famous, Early Medieval monastic site at Glendalough.

Successful completion of this course allows students to apply to any of the Universities, Colleges or Institutes of Technology. Others may find employment in their chosen field. Students can avail of career guidance at Pearse College during their stay.
Several past students of this course are currently studying at Maynooth University, UCD and Trinity College.
Three past students of this course are currently on the UCD Archaeological Training Excavation on the Hill of Ward (June 2015).
UCD Archaeology graduates in 2014 have found employment in their chosen field.
