The ‘Outdoor Recreation’ course is a full time ‘Outdoor Activity Instructor Training Course’. Laying down the foundations for Leadership, preparing students for Work in the Outdoor Recreation Industry and applying for places in Third Level Colleges. With a QQI level 5 award students can apply to do a degree course through the CAO/CAS higher education link system.
In addition to the QQI level 5 award, the course is run, assessed and awarded according to the National Governing Body guidelines of each sport. These awards are internationally recognised.
Description
At North West Adventure we have been running career training courses for 14 years. These specialist courses have been developed to equip students with the skills and professional qualifications necessary to work in the watersports industry. Plus foundation skills for Mountaineering. Whether you are considering a career, gap year or working break the internationally recognised qualifications available open up employment opportunities both in Ireland the UK and abroad.
Get qualified as an outdoor instructor at the North West Adventure Centre. Book into the training course and gain qualifications as a BCU level 1 coach.

2. First aid - rescue and emergency care 2 - is a 2 day, first aid course. This is the Industry standard First Aid for Outdoor Instructors.
3. Kayak and canoe personal skills
4. Wet suits, buoyancy aids, jackets, helmets, kayaks
The following costs are not provided by the Education Training Board:
1. Personal hill walking equipment:-
a. Waterproofs
b. Rucksack
c. Clothing
d. Hill walking boots
e. Map & compass + toggles + mountain skills log book
2. Kayak and canoe instructor training and assessment
3. Kayak and canoeing personal equipment
1. Map 1:50,000 - Sheet 16 - laminated - Ordinance Survey - available at cost price E18.00. Normally E25.00
2. Compass - Silva Expedition type 4 - available at cost price of E25.00. Normally E45.00
3. NGB Official - Mountain Skills Log Book - E6.00
4. Diesel E50 total or E8 per person per week for participants who travel in the jeep to locations for hill walking and kayaking activities.
