This is a one year course for people who would like to work in tourism, one of Ireland’s fastest growing industries. The course is designed to allow people to enter employment in a wide range of exciting workplaces after one year or to opt for progression to third level colleges. |

Mature students are very welcome on all courses in O'Fiaich Institute of further Education and the number of mature students is rising steadily. Some mature students are eligible for VTOS scheme (Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme). |

This course is aimed at students who have completed the Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, Leaving Certificate Vocational and mature students with an interest in travel and tourism with suitable candidates being selected by interview. |

Continuous assessment will be carried out throughout the year and there will be written examinations at the end of the year in the main subjects. |

Graduates of this course will be well prepared to gain employment in a wide range of areas such as Cabin Crew Travel Agencies, Airlines, Tourist Boards and Hotel Receptions. The Ready for Take Off and Galileo modules which comprise the Diploma in International Travel Industry Studies, specifically prepare students for employment as cabin crew, sales reservation agents, tour operators and travel agents. Since tourism is one of Ireland’s fastest growing industries, employment in these areas is increasing rapidly. Students who obtain the FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Tourism can also proceed to the Advanced Certificate in Business Administration in Ó Fiaich Institute or to a range of third level education options.
