This course is designed to cater for a broad spectrum of sports and leisure related activities. Graduates may seek a career in leisure, personal training, coaching, community and local authority based work and a range of careers in tourism and related fields. Practical aspects of the course take place in the University of Limerick Sports Arena. Facilities include 50m pool, aerobics studio, large well-equipped gymnasium and four full sized sports halls. |

BACK TO EDUCATION ALLOWANCE
The Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) is a scheme for unemployed people, lone parents and people with disabilities who are getting certain payments from the Department of Social Protection.
The allowance can be paid to people who wish to do or take approved second or third level courses of education. BTEA is not an unemployment payment.
Participants get a standard rate of payment which is not means tested. If you are signing for unemployment credits or submitting medical certificates for illness credits, you may apply to take part in the scheme through your Social Welfare Office.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES SCHEME
The Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) is an educational opportunities scheme for unemployed persons which are funded by the Department of Education and Skills with assistance from the European Social Fund. This scheme gives you a second chance to go back to full time education and training. It allows you to keep your social welfare allowances while attending your full time course in the college. All applicants must be 21 years or over to qualify
Who Qualifies for VTOS?
Adults over 21 years of age and have been receiving social welfare benefits for at least 6 months (156 days).
What allowances are payable?
If eligible and accepted on the scheme, students continue to get full Social Welfare Entitlements plus course fees, some lunch and travel expenses may also be paid for.

Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied. Exemptions may be made for mature students and talented athletes. Applicants may be interviewed.

Croom College of Further Education is committed to practices which safeguard the welfare of students, young people and vulnerable adults. Garda Vetting is conducted on students attending courses where interaction with children or vulnerable adults is a feature of the course. |
| Careers or Further Progression |
Students who attain the minimum entry requirements may progress to PE teaching at UCC and Institute of Technology Tralee. Students may progress to study Sports Strength and Conditioning or Social and Community Studies at Limerick Institute of Technology and many courses in IT Colleges nationwide. |
