Course Content This full-time course provides an opportunity to study for membership of the professional body, Accounting Technicians Ireland, which is sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Accountants. It provides a recognised business qualification for ambitious students planning to work at support level in the accounting area.
Duration One Year Accounting Technician Certificate. Classes are timetabled between 9·00 am and 1·15 pm Monday to Friday. Successful candidates can continue to year 2 for Diploma.
Comment Certification
The Accounting Technicians Ireland qualification is divided into two parts, each of which is a qualification in its own right. Successful completion of year 1 leads to an Accounting Technician Certificate and access to the Diploma qualification in year 2.
Alternative Entry Mature students
Course Fee In line with the Department of Education and Skills guidelines, there are no tuition fees.

However, the following are payable:
€20 non-refundable administration fee with your application form.
€100 registration fee on commencement of a course.
€200 contribution to the Department of Education and Skills - see exemptions under Finance.
€50 QQI exam fees payable in January - Medical Card Exemption.
Some modules will require the purchase of a text book or material.

Interview Interviews will be held in May 2017 and places will be offered at that stage. Interviews will also be held in late August to fill any remaining places. Therefore early application is advisable.

Entry Requirements Applicants must possess the Leaving Certificate or equivalent with a minimum of grade D (ordinary level) in at least five subjects including English and Mathematics or Accounting. If you are over twenty-one, you can apply to enrol as a mature student on the basis of your age and experience.

Exemptions must be agreed by students with Accounting Technicians Ireland.

The learner must be Garda vetted to avail of college facilities.
Assessment Method Assessment
Continuous assessment takes place on all PLC courses. Work produced throughout the year such as projects and assignments will be graded and will contribute towards final assessment.
Careers or Further Progression Career Prospects
Many graduates of year 1 progress to year 2. Successful completion of year 2 allows direct access to year 2 of professional accounting degree programmes in the Institutes of Technology. Alternative, graduates of year 2 take up employment in a broad range of finance roles in many types of organisations across different sectors from private industry to local and central government.
