| Course Fee |
A registration fee of €200 is payable to the Department of Education & Skills. This is waived if you hold a current medical card.
An enrolment fee of €100 applies and this fee is not covered by any grant or medical card.
A QQI examination fee of €50 applies for all non-medical card holders. |

Work Experience:
Work placement is arranged in conjunction with the Course Co-ordinator. Learners are placed in Work Experience one day a week for the duration of the course in a range of Childcare settings, for example, in creches, play groups and specialist childcare centres and primary schools.

| Entry Requirements |
Learners must have successfully completed the Leaving Certificate / LCAP / LCVP Examination or QQI Level 4.
An aptitude and interest in Childcare is desirable and preferably with English, Biology and / or Home Economics. Special consideration will be given to mature students or others who may not have obtained a Leaving Certificate. Entry procedure is by application and possible interview. |

Career Opportunities:
There are work opportunities for graduates as special needs assistants and as childcare assistants in creches, playgroups, the home and after school services.
Graduates can progress from this course to Institutes of Technology and Universities through the Higher Education Links Scheme on obtaining a full award. |
