Description
This intensive two year course gives the student the ability to design, problem solve and produce costume, make-up and hair for performers. The student is continually assessed through studio based practical projects and is given individual feedback on all completed work. The course is delivered by film and theatre practitioners. Students study design development, drawing and illustration to enable them to generate and communicate their ideas.
Pattern drafting and costume construction are thought to enable the student to realise their designs into 3D Students are instructed in the techniques of hair/wig and make-up design and application.
Students also collaborate with the Performance department and the Technical Theatre department on designing shows for public performance.

Hide-Course fees range from €300 to €400 depending on the course. The fees cover costs of examination entry and certification fees as well as any course materials and personal equipment to students. The fees also cover a range of other services and activities provided for, or engaged in, by the students such as some trips, cultural and sporting events, accident insurance policy fee and student services fund fee. in addition to this, the Government levy of €200 will also apply for those applicants who do not hold a medical care.
Enrolment Deposit
Students who accept the offer of a place on a course must pay a non-refundable deposit of €50. The balance of the fee must be paid on commencement of each academic year.
External Examination Fees
Students who choose to enter for examinations other than those set by QQI and/or BTEC must pay the appropriate exam fees to the relevant examining authority.

The Department of Education and Science has introduced a maintenance grant scheme for Further Education students. Application forms are available online at www.susi.ie.

Applications are welcome from 1st December of the year preceding the course start year.
Interviews are then held at regular intervals from the following March onwards. First round of interviews will take place during March/April. Second round interviews will take place in mid-May. Late applications will be interviewed when the Leaving Certificate Examinations are finished or in early September.

| Entry Requirements |
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age, have reached Leaving Certificate standard.
Entry is by interview and portfolio assessment.

The incoming student should have good communication skills, initiative and enjoy working as a team. |
