The Beauty course in Marino is ideal for students who wish to pursue a career within the Beauty Industry. We offer students an ideal opportunity to train to the highest standard for the ITEC Beauty Specialist Diploma, and also gain a QQI Level 5 in Beauty Therapy.
Marino's Beauty course houses both theoretical and practical work. Our Beauty course provides students with thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology, providing in-depth understanding of the structure and functions of the entire human body, in addition to various modules in business, personal effectiveness, retail selling and many more. We also offer Beauty students in-house training and product knowledge to ensure our students are kept up-to-date with the ever-changing world of Beauty.
Our examination body, ITEC, have a strict attendance requirement which must be met to register for both theory and practical exams. It is compulsory that students complete a portfolio of case studies as part of their internal assessment which is verified by ITEC. NB No case studies - no exam.

Garda Vetting
Students applying for courses involving working with children and or vulnerable adults, are required to undergo Garda Vetting procedures prior to commencing placements. If, as a result of the outcome of the Garda Vetting procedures, a student is deemed unsuitable to attend clinical or other professional placement he/she may be required to withdraw from the course. |

Registration fees apply. However it is important that students should budget to cover the cost of the various student services - similar to the requirements of Third Level Colleges. These costs include examination fees, insurance, registration charges, books and where required - uniforms and specialised equipment. Details of these charges are available on request from the college. There are no fees for tuition. No refund of course costs will be issued after 30th September.
In addition, students are liable for a €200 participation contribution, imposed on all PLC courses. The following categories of student are exempt from paying the contribution.
Full current medical card holders in their own right and their dependent children.
Those who are eligible under the student grant Scheme
Those in receipt of the Back to Education Allowance or VTOS allowances.
Please note evidence that you are in receipt of any of the above must be provided before an exemption can be implemented. Therefore, initially only those who produce a full medical card in their own right will be exempt. All others must pay the €200 contribution and it will be refunded when their eligibility is confirmed.

Back to Education Allowance
The Back to Education Allowance is a scheme which enables anyone in receipt of benefits eg Jobseekers Allowance or One Parent Family Payment to enrol on a Post Leaving Certificate or Adult Education course and continue to keep their benefit. For more information on the schemes you can contact your local Social Welfare Office.
Back to Education Initiative
The Back to Education Initiative provides part-time Further Education Programmes for young people and adults. The aim is to give people an opportunity to combine return to learning with family and other responsibilities. Priority is given to early school leavers, participants can retain their benefits and there are no course charges.

Work experience is an essential part of the course in year 1, whereby students will spend time during the year in a suitable place of employment. It is the responsibility of the individual student to secure a placement in the industry for their work placements.

Leaving Certificate standard, including Leaving Cert Applied. Home economics or a science subject desirable. All eligible applicants will be interviewed. Academic requirements may be waived for mature applicants. |

Students who successfully obtain their diplomas from Marino College can progress to further studies in Beauty and Complementary Therapies eg the Advanced Beauty Therapy with Microdermabrasion and Laser/IPL course here at Marino College.
