Course Content This course prepares students for a career in nursing. The design of course combines aspects of nursing theory and practice, it teaches an understanding of the needs of patients, it develops communications, intellectual and caring skills. Nursing Studies enables the students to become confident, capable and equipped to practice effectively in constantly changing hospital and community-based environments.

Comment Certification:
The certificate awarded to successful students is the QQI Certificate in Nursing Studies (Level 5). In addition, all students are given the opportunity to obtain Certificates in First Aid, Sign Language and Manual Handling and to repeat one or two subjects in the Leaving Certificate.
Alternative Entry Mature students are very welcome on all courses in O'Fiaich Institute of further Education and the number of mature students is rising steadily. Some mature students are eligible for VTOS scheme (Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme).

Entry Requirements This course is aimed at students who have completed the Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, Leaving Certificate Vocational and mature students.
