Hide-Back To Education Initiative (BTEI)
The BTEI provides part-time Further Education programmes for young people and adults. It aims to give participants an opportunity to combine a return to learning with family, work and other responsibilities. Programmes are offered in partnership with a number of agencies throughout the country on a flexible part-time basis. Classes are offered throughout the year in the morning, afternoons, evenings or weekends. Courses lead to a range of accreditation at levels 1-6 on the NFQ.

Course Duration:
Part-time: 2 Years (2 days per week, 4 components each year).
Entry Requirements:
Leaving Certificate / Leaving Certificate Applied or QQI/FETAC Level 4. Mature students with relevant life or work experience. All candidates will be interviewed individually.
Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to take an assessment in English to establish the most suitable level of study for them.
Work Experience
Work Experience is a compulsory part of the course. Students will follow the QQI Work Experience module and will spend one day a week on a work experience placement. Garda clearance is required and will be organised through the college.
Certification:
QQI Level 5 Major Award in Early Childhood Care & Education.
Prospects:
Successful completion of the course will enable learners to enter employment in the Early Years Services such as Crèches and Pre-schools, or to progress to further study at QQI Level 6 or Third Level through the Higher Education Links Scheme. Successful students from the course have gained full-time and part-time employment in a variety of Early Years services and have progressed to study at Level 6 and at Third Level institutions.
