The course provides students with knowledge, competence and skills for academic progression into the vocation of Nursing or employment within the healthcare sector working in hospitals, Nursing Homes, Community Care Homes and as Home Help for the Older Person.
In Moyne College our students will develop a range of practical and interpersonal skills necessary to work in a range of care environments. In addition students will participate in
First Aid Training
Patient Moving Course
Hand Hygiene
Students complete a 4 week placement in local hospitals/ Nursing homes and gain valuable experience of the healthcare profession. In addition students are afforded the opportunity to discuss progression to higher Education through CAO/ UCAS with the career guidance tutor.
All students will have to obtain Garda Vetting through the college on commencement of the course
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this programme learners will have the skills, knowledge and competency to work under supervision in a variety of healthcare settings and / or to progress to further or higher education and training.
