A 2.2 Honours degree or above or equivalent qualification acceptable to the University and a Masters degree or equivalent qualification acceptable to the University. Performance profiles (grades etc) may also be required to ensure suitability of the applicant for Doctoral study. Applicants will normally be expected to have at least five years' full-time professional experience in a field of work related to Education.

Additional Information For International Students
International students wishing to apply to Queen's University Belfast (and for whom English is not their first language), must be able to demonstrate their proficiency in English in order to benefit fully from their course of study or research. Non-EEA nationals must also satisfy UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) immigration requirements for English language for visa purposes. Evidence of an IELTS* score of 6.5, with not less than 5.5 in any component, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University is required. *Taken within the last 2 years.

The Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) TESOL, which is a combination of both taught and research elements, provides an alternative route to the PhD for mid-career and senior professionals in English language education and related disciplines. We offer a wide range of taught modules in the areas of research methods (three compulsory), TESOL (two compulsory), education policy, education management and professional development. |
