This is a one year full time childcare course designed to equip candidates to work as members of a professional team in the area of childcare. This course introduces learners to a general working knowledge and understanding of children in early childhood. Students gain first hand experience throughout the year by attending work placements in a variety of settings. This course is designed to develop the caring, practical, communication and intellectual skills essential for working with children.

All applicants will be considered subject to interview. If the Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied has been completed, details should be submitted with your application. Mature learners may be exempt from the academic requirements. This course is intensive and requires applicants to have a high level of ability, enthusiasm and commitment. |

Through this scheme, learners can apply for advanced courses in social care, and childcare in a number of the Institutes of Technology.

* Paediatric First Aid and Manual Handling are being offered as an optional extra, at a charge to students of 120 euros.
