Course Content This new course introduces students to the broad and expanding area of Sport Science and Physiology. This challenging course provides students with the skills, knowledge and qualifications necessary to gain employment in the Fitness and Leisure industry or to lay the foundations for further study in this area. It is important for prospective students to know that it is a theory based course with some elements of practical.

Course Fee Course Charges
There are no fees for tuition. However, in line with provision in the third level sector, charges exist to cover the costs of the following items: books, some equipment, uniforms/clothing, student services, student union, examination fees and registration charges by professional bodies. Check website for individual course charges. In addition students are liable for a €200 participant contribution. Some categories of student are exempt from paying the contribution

Financial Support Grants
Students undertaking any full time Further Education course may apply for a means tested maintenance grant. Application forms are available from SUSI www.susi.ie. Students from designated disadvantaged partnership areas may be eligible for financial assistance towards course charges.

Subjects Taught Anatomy and Physiology, Body Massage and Figure Analysis, Sport and Injury Prevention Skills, Nutrition, Sport and Recreation Studies, Occupational First Aid, Teamwork, Work Experience and Exercise and Fitness.

Workshops in Massage, Exercise and Fitness will be offered throughout the year.
Entry Requirements Leaving Certificate and interview. A science subject at leaving certificate would be desired. Students must apply for Garda Clearance at Registration in September.
