The course aims to enable learners to develop their knowledge, skills and qualifications to gain employment as assistant instructors in the outdoor recreation sector. The course also acts as a foundation for progression to degree or Higher National Diploma programmes in Third Level Institutions nationally. Students also have the option of progressing to the Level 6 sport, recreation & exercise programme here in Drogheda Institute. |

All applicants will be invited to an interview to ascertain their suitability for the course. Further applications are accepted over the summer months and similar interviews take place in early September for any remaining vacancies. All applicants will be notified by post as to the results of the interview.

Applications are invited from those who have completed Leaving Certificate. Mature students and recent school leavers are also welcome to apply. An interest in health, fitness training and outdoor activities is also essential. All applicants will be interviewed. There are charges relating to the outdoor modules of this course and personal equipment purchases will be required. |
| Careers or Further Progression |
Graduates can gain employment directly from this course as assistant instructors within the Outdoor Recreation Industry. Successful graduates may also apply to pursue Higher National Diploma and Degree courses Institutes of Technology nationwide. Study may also progress to our Level 6 course to acquire additional Instructor level qualifications. |
