Hide-This is a one-year full-time course suited to mature students returning to education. This is an access course for those who are new to the study of addictions and counselling. Students may use it as a first step towards a professional training as an Addiction Project Worker or Addiction Counsellor. This course is a foundation course for mature students wishing to access a related course in Higher Education.
Features of the course
The course will focus on:
Studies in: drug and alcohol dependency and addictive behaviours
Introduction to common therapeutic interventions such as Motivational Interviewing and Brief Solution-focused Therapy
Introduction to counselling skills
Optional workshops incur additional costs.

From 2011, as required by government legislation, a Registration Charge of €200 (in addition to the course charge) will be payable by all Post Leaving Cert (PLC) students. There will be some exemptions and reliefs.
Contact the Admissions Office for an up-to-date listing of course charges. Candidates who are non-EU citizens should contact the College for details of entry conditions.

Students may be eligible for a means tested maintenance grant under the Maintenance Grants Scheme for students attending Post Leaving Certificate Courses. General information and application details may be obtained on www.susi.ie. You can submit your application for a Maintenance Grant once you have secured a college place.
Candidates are advised to apply for a grant as soon as they have secured a college place in order to have time to submit all documents required. |
