Hide-This course will give students an insight into the areas of Psychology & Social Studies. It provides a combination of theoretical and practical training in the sectors of childhood, adolescence, disabilities, and older people. In addition to acquiring competent skills, students will learn about the roles and responsibilities of working in a caring environment. Subjects studied include the developing child, the progression to adulthood and the aging process, together with information regarding special needs and the social aspects effecting and stimulating the individual. Additionally, learners will study personal development and have the opportunity to enhance their communication, computer and first aid skills.

Career Opportunities & Progression Routes
Graduates will have employment opportunities in the community, nursing homes, childcare or entry to An Garda Siochana. Students may also progress to third level courses in Psychology, Social Studies, Youth Work, Humanities, Counselling, or as a Mature Student into Psychiatric Nursing or Teaching. They may also progress to the Early Childhood Care and Education Level 6 course in Ó Fiaich Institute. |
