Hide-This programme is aimed at those working in or considering a career in business. The programme builds on learning obtained in the Higher Certificate in Business (Level 6 NFQ) and focuses on the practical skills and knowledge required to enhance performance in a business environment. Students will acquire the broad business skills that will enable them to obtain employment across a wide range of business environments at administrative or junior management entry level.
The programme is delivered online over one year. It consists of seven modules – four in semester one and three in semester two (including a dissertation). Modules are delivered online by professionally qualified and experienced business lecturers and cover the following business functions:
People Management
Business Information Systems
Financial Management and Control
Management
Economics
Students will also have the opportunity to complete a minor dissertation which is preceded by research methods seminars.
The programme includes a significant amount of on-going on-line assessment in each of the modules and final written examinations which will be held in the Institute (or at alternative approved examination centre) at the end of each semester.
Why choose an online course?
IT Sligo believes that online and distance learning provides the best service and value to learners in the following ways:
•Reduced total costs (minimal travel and overnight stays).
•Improved quality of life for learners with less disruption of home and work life.
•24/7 accessibility and improved convenience where learners can carry out their learning at a time that suits them.
What is an online course like?
IT Sligo is the leader in Ireland in the delivery of live lectures over the Internet. Our online courses are very familiar to students in that they replicate the face-to-face classroom by web-casting live classes over the Internet. Students can hear the lecturer, see the board and ask questions throughout the lecture.
All live classes are recorded for those who may not be able to attend or for use as revision resources. In addition to live classes, each module has its own web page where lecturers post useful resources; students submit assignments and get private feedback, and where students can communicate with their lecturers and with each other.

Hide-Career Opportunities
Typically, graduates with a Bachelor of Business in Management Applications enhance their career prospects in management positions both in private and public sectors or use the programme as a stepping stone to enter the business world for the first time. Former graduates are now working in the manufacturing, retail and public service; others have set up highly successful businesses. The programme is also an ideal base from which to progress to the Level 8 honours business qualification in IT Sligo.
