Applicants who have a 2.2 Honours degree in other disciplines may be considered if they have substantial and relevant professional experience
Applicants for the full-time programme must provide an outline of the dissertation proposal (500 words) as part of their application. For further information relating to this please contact the Course Coordinators.
For direct entry into Year 2 of the part-time programme, applicants will hold a Professional Development Graduate Diploma in Education (Level 9 NFQ) at a minimum of Honours 2.1.
In cases where the applicant does not meet normal entry requirements, the applicant can be assessed on prior learning in line with University policy and procedures on the Recognition of Prior Learning. The admission procedures will include an interview wherein the prior learning and experience of applicants in education will be assessed.

Hide-The Master of Education degree programme is a two-year, part-time programme presented through a combination of weekend study and independent study. The programme covers theories, principles and practices in contemporary educational settings and is designed for all those interested in enhancing their professional knowledge, understandings and skills. Teaching and learning methods include; lectures, workshops, presentations, visiting speakers and supervised research. Graduates of the programme are working as teachers, principals, inspectors, lecturers, and researchers in schools, colleges, universities at home and abroad.
Applicants choose this programme because of the dedication and commitment of the teaching faculty, the range of supervision specialisations available, and the high quality and individualised nature of the supervisory process.
The Objectives of the Programme Are:

Participants will also complete:
1.An Applied Research Project which will be conducted as an introduction to engaging in research. It is intended that this project be completed within one semester.
2.A Dissertation of 20,000 words.
Programme Delivery
The Part-time MEd 1 programme is delivered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the College semester. The Part-time MEd 2 programme is delivered on Friday evenings and approximately four Saturday mornings during semester 1. The second semester is dedicated to independent research (with supervisor) and writing a dissertation. The class is also called in for several upskilling and information sessions. The Full-time MEd programme is delivered on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings during the College semester and on several Saturday mornings.

| Assessment Method |
The core modules will be assessed by a combination of continuous assessment and end-of-term assessment. A cumulative grade point average system is used to recognise and reward work throughout the programme.
