In the 2010 Budget the Government introduced a 200 PLC Programme Participation Contribution. Students on participating PLC courses must pay this.
The following participants are exempt from paying this contribution:
Full medical card holders in their own right
Those who are eligible under the student grant scheme.
Those in receipt of a Back to Education Allowance (BTEA).
Those in receipt of a Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) allowance.
This 200 is payable on enrolment.
There is a 60 registration fee which must be paid by all students when they are offered a place on the course in order to secure the place.
There will be charges during the year for stationary, Certified Manual Handling and First Aid Courses.

Work Placement:
Two days per week (Thursday and Friday) will be spent on Work Placement. Placements include: General Hospitals, Convalescent Homes, Nursing Homes, Services for the Intellectually/Physically Disabled, etc. It is advisable that students secure their own Work Placement as early as possible.

Five Passes in the Leaving Certificate, preferably with a high competence in some of the following subjects -Biology, English, Home Economics. Relevant Work Experience or other Courses will be taken into account.
