Aims
This is a one year full-time course which gives students the opportunity to gain the necessary skills to work in the travel business or a tourism related area. The course has been designed in partnership with the International Academy of Travel (IAOT). The emphasis is on practical training combined with the development of business and administration skills. |

Registration fees apply. However it is important that students should budget to cover the cost of the various student services - similar to the requirements of Third Level Colleges. These costs include examination fees, insurance, registration charges, books and where required - uniforms and specialised equipment. Details of these charges are available on request from the college. There are no fees for tuition. No refund of course costs will be issued after 30th September.
In addition, students are liable for a €200 participation contribution, imposed on all PLC courses. The following categories of student are exempt from paying the contribution.
Full current medical card holders in their own right and their dependent children.
Those who are eligible under the student grant Scheme
Those in receipt of the Back to Education Allowance or VTOS allowances.
Please note evidence that you are in receipt of any of the above must be provided before an exemption can be implemented. Therefore, initially only those who produce a full medical card in their own right will be exempt. All others must pay the €200 contribution and it will be refunded when their eligibility is confirmed.

Back to Education Allowance
The Back to Education Allowance is a scheme which enables anyone in receipt of benefits eg Jobseekers Allowance or One Parent Family Payment to enrol on a Post Leaving Certificate or Adult Education course and continue to keep their benefit. For more information on the schemes you can contact your local Social Welfare Office.
Back to Education Initiative
The Back to Education Initiative provides part-time Further Education Programmes for young people and adults. The aim is to give people an opportunity to combine return to learning with family and other responsibilities. Priority is given to early school leavers, participants can retain their benefits and there are no course charges.

| Careers or Further Progression |
Future Prospects
Graduates from Travel and Tourism Course are securing employment in areas such as Cabin Crew, Passenger Reservations, Travel Agencies and Airlines and Handling agencies. Students who attain their full QQI Level 5 Award will have an opportunity to progress to third level institutions or to join the Advanced Certificate in Administration Course (QQI Level 6) at Marino College or elsewhere. |
