Hide-This programme will introduce learners to a general understanding and knowledge of children in the early years. Learners will gain first hand experience by participating in a 4 week work placement in a relevant childcare setting. The programme is ideal for both school leavers and for mature students. On successful completion of the programme, learners will receive a recognised qualification in the rapidly growing area of childcare. The course content relates to working with children from 0 – 6 years.
In addition Moyne College offers the module Children with Additional Needs(5N2396) and learners get to work with students displaying a range of additional needs. Learners are also afforded the opportunity to discuss progression to higher Education through CAO/ UCAS with the career guidance tutor.
All students will have to obtain Garda Vetting through the college on commencement of the course.
Job Opportunities include working in creches, playschools and as Special Needs assistants in National and Secondary schools

Hide-Education: No formal education or qualifications are required although applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 4 when accessing a Level 5 programme.
• Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
• Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.
