| Course Content |
This two year full-time course is designed to provide students with the techniques and knowledge required to gain a recognised qualification in hairdressing allowing them to compete for employment in a salon environment.
Year 2
This is a one year course which includes 3 days in college and 2 days work placement. The aim is to develop and expand the skills acquired in year 1, with a strong emphasis on all aspects of practical skill. |

Students who successfully complete Year One will be awarded a Junior Trades Certificate and a QQI level 5 certificate in Hairdressing (5M3351).

All applications will be acknowledged by post or email. Applications will be accepted from January 2017 for the first round of interviews each, usually held in May. All applicants will be invited to an interview to ascertain their suitability for the course. Further applications are accepted over the summer months and similar interviews take place in early September for any remaining vacancies. All applicants will be notified by post as to the results of the interview.

Applications are invited from those who have completed Leaving Certificate or equivalent. Mature students are also welcome. Students should have an aptitude for the relevant area of study.
For entry into year two, students must achieve at least a merit in their QQI practical hairdressing examination, pass all other modules and have secured a two day per week placement in a hair salon.
Year 2
1.Successful Completion of QQI/FETAC level 5 Hairdressing award (Hairdressing year 1 or equivalent)
2.Merit or Distinction in the practical component of Level 5 QQI/FETAC Hairdressing
3.Applicants must secure a 2 day weekly work placement in a Hairdressing salon

Career Prospects
Students who successfully complete year one may opt to take up Junior positions within the Hairdressing Industry. Students opting to complete year two will gain more advanced skills before taking up positions in the Hairdressing Industry.
Year 2
Students who successfully complete this course may gain placement as a second or third year apprentice in a high profile hairdressing salon.
