Hide-Five former students have won National PPI Radio Awards from this highly renowned course. The emergence of digital radio has made learning about radio production more relevant than ever before. Students gain hands on experience in the radio industry.
Practical experience is ongoing on the college's licensed digital on air radio station, Juice FM. Presenting skills, interviewing, news reading, sound recording and digital editing form part of this programme of study.
Students form part of the management structure for Juice FMs online and FM radio output.

Students have access to the college’s “Digital”, “On Air” and “Production” studios. Students are also offered an opportunity to visit many national, local and community radio stations. All applicants' suitability is assessed on the merit of their application forms and by the means of a ten to fifteen minute interview. Interviews will take place in May and September depending on when you apply. All late applicants should check with the College Main Office as quite frequently, we have places still available on some courses in September. The purpose of this subject is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to produce radio programmes and other radio broadcast materials to a standard suitable for a range of services at local, regional and national level.
•Sound Engineering and Production 5N1900

•Students who successfully complete QQI Level 5 Radio Production may apply for QQI level 6 in Media Production (CSN Radio Broadcasting year 2).
•Students who successfully complete QQI Level 5 Radio Production with a minimum of 3 Distinctions may apply for 2nd year entry to B.A. Hons in TV, Radio and New Media Broadcasting, (TL802), Institute of Technology, Tralee.
•Students with a QQI level 5 distinction profile may be eligible to apply to higher education courses through the Higher Education Link Scheme, e.g. B.A. degree, U.C.C.
