Successful candidates receive the QQI/FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Engineering Technology (5M2061).
Alternative Entry Mature students are very welcome on all courses in O'Fiaich Institute of further Education and the number of mature students is rising steadily. Some mature students are eligible for VTOS scheme (Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme).

Entry Requirements This course is aimed at students who have completed the Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, Leaving Certificate Vocational and mature students with an interest in engineering with suitable candidates being selected by interview.
Assessment Method There is continuous assessment throughout the year and examinations are taken in the main subjects in May.
Careers or Further Progression Career Opportunities & Progression Routes
Students who participate in this course are eligible to apply for apprenticeships or go directly into the workforce. Those students who successfully complete the course can gain entry to third level education by an alternative route known as the Higher Education Links Scheme, whereby students can gain entry to specific courses in the Institute of Technology, using their QQI examination results instead of their Leaving Certificate results.
